How to analyze your 81Dojo games
Last updated: October 21, 2026
To analyze an 81Dojo game, open the game in 81Dojo, choose “Copy to clipboard as KIF” from the Kifu menu, then tap “Paste from clipboard” in Shogi Analysis. You can also save a file with “Download to KIF file” and add it with “Choose a file”. Shogi Analysis then shows the win-rate graph, best moves and lines, and turns your own mistakes into tsume puzzles and a problem set.
Steps
- Install Shogi Analysis — Get Shogi Analysis from the App Store or Google Play. No sign-up is needed.
- Open the game in 81Dojo — In 81Dojo, open “Kifu search”, enter the player name and search, then open the game you want to analyze.
- Copy the game record as KIF — Tap the Kifu button and choose “Copy to clipboard as KIF”. To save a file instead, choose “Download to KIF file”.
- Add it to Shogi Analysis — On the Games tab in Shogi Analysis, tap “Add games”, then tap “Paste from clipboard”. For a downloaded file, tap “Choose a file” and pick the .kif file.
- Choose your name — The first time, you’re asked “Which player are you?”. Choose your 81Dojo username. It’s remembered, so you won’t be asked again.
- Review the game — The game appears in your game list. Tap it to open Analysis and see the win-rate graph, best moves and lines.
About 81Dojo game records
- If a record has no player names Shogi Analysis can use, you’re asked “Are you Sente (Black) or Gote (White)?”.
- Pasting an 81Dojo game link doesn’t work. Game links can be imported only from Shogi Wars, Shogi Quest and KIOU, so copy the game record as KIF instead.
- For games that ended on time or by repetition rather than by resignation, the result (win or loss) may not be shown. The moves are still analyzed.
- Only standard shogi can be analyzed. Handicap games aren’t analyzed.
- To import several games at once, download their KIF files and pick up to 50 at a time with “Choose a file”. Duplicates are skipped automatically.
What you get from the analysis
- Win-rate graph — See the win rate after every move as a line. Tap a point to jump to that position.
- Where it went wrong — Inaccuracies, mistakes and blunders are judged by how much a move drops the win rate, not by the evaluation score.
- Best moves and lines — In any position, see the best move and the top 3 candidate moves, and replay the line on the board.
- Try a move — Move a piece on the board and the win rate after that move is analyzed on the spot.
- Tsume puzzles and a problem set — Missed mates become tsume puzzles you play out to checkmate, and positions where you went wrong become your own problem set.
If a game won’t import
- Supported formats are KIF, KI2 and CSA (plus USI/SFEN and JKF).
- A game won’t import if you copy only part of the record. Copy the whole game record with “Copy to clipboard as KIF”.
- If it still won’t import, please contact us and include the game record.
