How to analyze your Shogi Wars games

Last updated: October 21, 2026

To analyze a Shogi Wars game, open the game record in the Shogi Wars app, tap the copy icon, then tap “Paste from clipboard” in Shogi Analysis. You can also choose Shogi Analysis from the game’s Share menu. Analysis starts as soon as the game is added, and the win-rate graph and best moves appear move by move as they finish. Games of any time control, including Sprint and Tsume Battle records, can be imported.

Steps

  1. Install Shogi Analysis — Get Shogi Analysis from the App Store or Google Play. No sign-up is needed.
  2. Copy the game record in Shogi Wars — In the Shogi Wars app, open the game record of the game you want to analyze and tap the copy icon at the top of the screen. The game record is copied to the clipboard.
  3. Paste it into Shogi Analysis — On the Games tab in Shogi Analysis, tap “Add games”, then tap “Paste from clipboard”.
  4. Choose your name — The first time, you’re asked “Which player are you?”. Choose your player name. It’s remembered, so you won’t be asked again.
  5. Review the game — The game appears in your game list. Tap it to open Analysis and see the win-rate graph, best moves and lines.

You can also import from the Share menu

  1. In the Shogi Wars app, tap Share on the game you want to analyze.
  2. Choose “Shogi Analysis” from the list of apps, and the game is imported.

You can also copy the game link from the Share menu and add it with “Paste from clipboard”. Either way, the Shogi Analysis server fetches only that one game from its Shogi Wars game page and analyzes it.

Importing many games at once

KIF files saved from Kishin Analytics or elsewhere can be imported up to 50 at a time with “Choose a file” under “Add games”. Duplicates are skipped automatically, so you don’t need to worry about picking the same game twice.

What you get from the analysis

  • Win-rate graph — See the win rate after every move as a line. Tap a point to jump to that position.
  • Where it went wrong — Inaccuracies, mistakes and blunders are judged by how much a move drops the win rate, not by the evaluation score.
  • Best moves and lines — In any position, see the best move and the top 3 candidate moves, and replay the line on the board.
  • Try a move — Move a piece on the board and the win rate after that move is analyzed on the spot.
  • Tsume puzzles and a problem set — Missed mates become tsume puzzles you play out to checkmate, and positions where you went wrong become your own problem set.

If a game won’t import

  • Supported formats are KIF, KI2 and CSA (plus USI/SFEN and JKF).
  • A game won’t import if you copy only part of the record. Copy the whole game record.
  • If it still won’t import, please contact us and include the game record.
